Ondu

About Ondu

The name Ondu is inspired by onde, the French word for wave. The kind of wave that carries sound through the air. Ondu carries your music the same way, from your own server to wherever you’re listening.

But what is it, really?

It’s a self-hosted and open-source music library server and native apps for iPhone and Mac, and Android is coming soon. It provides ownership and privacy to your music experience and does not depend on any external sources. Just you and your music.

It ships with small, fast, offline-first, native apps for multiple platforms. It syncs your library metadata, supports streaming and downloads with different quality presets for when you have limited bandwidth or storage.

For developers there is also an OpenAPI spec included, which documents all the API endpoints the native apps use, and even some the apps don’t use at all for some extra functionality.

Every component of Ondu is open-source and free.

Who is this for?

I made this for myself and my friends, but maybe you will like it too. If anything about all of this sounds interesting I encourage you to give it a try.
